Hello and welcome!
My name is Margaret Forsey. I am an artist who lives in the lovely Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. I share my home with three sweet cats and one sweet husband. I make hooked rugs! I also experiment with many other creative mediums, and teach art workshops and camps to both adults and children.
I was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland (yay!). In 2001 I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to attend the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I graduated with a BFA (as valedictorian, baby!) in 2006.
I have exhibited my artwork across Canada, at the Rooms in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the Mary E. Black Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, Ontario, and other galleries. I have also taught art workshops and camps at a variety of locations in Nova Scotia, including the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens, the Wolfville Farmer’s Market, the Kentville Farmer’s Market, Gaspereau Valley Fibres and the Acadia University Art Gallery.
Much of my art is inspired by my experiences caring for young children, as a doula, nanny, and teacher. Recently I have been studying Waldorf education. I hope to continue my studies in Early Childhood Education, and would love to open a home daycare of my own, someday.
Besides art and children, I also love bicycles, swimming, yin yoga, gardening, chocolate, and cats ❤
I have started this blog to share my art with the wider world. I hope you enjoy. Thank you for visiting!
